A holograph will must be handwritten
Saskatchewan’s guidance says a holograph will must be completely handwritten, signed and dated, and clearly intended as a will. A document that is even partly typed does not meet this description. The guidance states that witnesses are not required or permitted for this form.
Make specific instructions understandable
Use full names and clear relationships. For a proposed charitable bequest, record the organization’s correct identity rather than a nickname. If your property includes agricultural land, a business or assets shared with others, collect the ownership records and ask which instructions the will can carry out.
Plan for review and administration
Speak with your executor and an alternate before signing. Keep bequests separate from the inheritance calculation so their effects can be checked. Ask a qualified scholar about your family’s distribution and a Saskatchewan lawyer about legal implementation. Store the original securely and tell the executor where to find it; a draft saved online is not the same as a completed signed will.
